Most electrical workers have never received training in Arc Flash Safety. Over 2,000 workers are admitted to burn trauma centers every year with burns from electrical explosions. Arc flash occurs when the phase conductors are shorted and ionizations of the air take place. An arc flash creates temperatures of up to 35,000°F. Injuries due to arc flashes can be prevented by understanding the hazards.
